See inside the new Lake Stage Building

Bregenz, 15.7.22. The stage set for this summer’s Bregenz production of Madame Butterfly can now be admired from the inside as well, using a new online tool that offers X-ray vision. Virtual visitors can strip the set down to the concrete core and examine the various parts through a magnifying glass.

New perspective
What the stage set is actually assembled of is normally not visible. That’s now changed with the online X-ray view. Curious visitors to our website, with immediate effect, can look behind the scenes and find out all about how the stage set is constructed, how it functions and what technology it contains, from the perspective of the auditorium.

Various settings are available, for instance Underwater, Core, and Dimensions (see below). These allow you to glide through the building layer by layer – from the simple external view to the structures underneath and finally to the solid core on the bed of Lake Constance.

A particularly fascinating extra function is available for opera fans who are physically present in the auditorium. The online X-ray vision mode reacts dynamically to the movements of your smartphone, so you can look at the actual stage set at the same time as peering inside. The smartphone screen automatically shows whatever part of the stage building the device is pointing towards. You can also use the zoom function to have a close-up look, even at the smallest details.

If you’d like to go on this virtual voyage of discovery yourself, follow this link to the Bregenz Festival website and navigate using the icons at the top of the screen.

The 2022 Bregenz Festival runs from 20 July to 21 August. For tickets and information please visit www.bregenzerfestspiele.com or call 0043 5574 4076.
