Booking opens on 2 October

Bregenz, 28.9.23. Good news for fans of the festival – on Monday 2 October 2023 tickets go on sale for the 2024 festival season. Tickets can be booked for the lake stage production of Der Freischütz, the opera at the Festspielhaus Tancredi and also for the orchestral concerts by calling tel. 0043 5574 407 6, visiting the Ticket Center at the Festspielhaus or via the Bregenz Festival website.

Next summer’s lake stage production – Carl Maria von Weber’s Der Freischütz – will be given on 25 evenings. The first performance opens the 78th season of the Bregenz Festival on 17 July; the final performance is scheduled for 18 August. Approximately 175,000 tickets are available for the opera on the lake stage (including Young People’s Night and the dress rehearsal). 

Der Freischütz, premiered in 1821, is one of the most popular operas in German-speaking countries but has never been performed on the lake stage at the Bregenz Festival.

The music director for the production will be the festival’s conductor in residence, Enrique Mazzola, while Philipp Stölzl will direct the opera and design the set. It was his imaginative mind that dreamt up the impressive stage set for Rigoletto, the opera on the lake stage in 2019/2021. 
Suspenseful opera at the Festspielhaus

On 18 July, the curtain goes up on a dramatic opera about love, trust and the impossibility of finding happiness in times of crisis: Gioachino Rossini’s Tancredi, which can be seen at the Bregenz Festspielhaus in a production by Jan Philipp Gloger. The music director will be Yi-Chen Lin, who Bregenz Festival audiences will remember well for her conducting of Giacomo Puccini’s Madame Butterfly. 

Symphonic masterpieces rub shoulders with new sound worlds to be discovered in the four orchestral concerts, which illustrate the richness of music from the 19th century to the present day. On the bill are pieces by Carl Maria von Weber, Igor Stravinsky and Emilie Mayer.

The complete programme for the 2024 season will be presented by the Bregenz Festival on 22 November 2023.
