Who wants to be a Geisha?

Costume and prop sale on 13 &14 October

Bregenz, 28.9.23. Elegant geisha garments, the flowing robes of ghosts, 1920s outfits and more are looking for new owners. To free up storage space for Der Freischütz, the Bregenz Festival will be holding its traditional sale of costumes and props in the Festspielhaus at Bregenz.

Remedy for nostalgia
Anybody wishing to preserve a piece of the magic of Madame Butterfly will have an opportunity to do so in mid October. Costumes and props from productions at this summer’s festival will be sold off at the Workshop Theatre in Bregenz Festspielhaus on 13 and 14 October 2023. Over 500 geisha and rebel costumes as well as historical Japanese clothing and footwear from various productions are up for grabs. They will be joined by over 200 costume props like hats, helmets and also large amounts of left-over material.

Fans of older lake stage productions also have something to look forward to, with chorus and solo costumes from Rigoletto and green costumes from Nero, for example, among the items on sale.

Magnet for opera fans and carnival revellers
On Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. opera fans, performers in amateur theatricals and carnival goers can come to browse and maybe find a bargain amongst the cast-off stock of props and costumes, clothing, wigs, helmets as well as a range of technical equipment (sound and lighting) from opera productions of the past.

The offer is valid while stocks last. The General Terms and Conditions of the Bregenzer Festspiele GmbH apply.
