Festspielhaus events planned for 15 to 22 August

"Strong artistic signal in this summer of cancellations"

Bregenz, 4.6.20. After the cancellation of this year’s Bregenz Festival, the “artistic sign of life” promised by artistic director Elisabeth Sobotka in mid May is now taking shape.

The Bregenz Festival will present a short programme of events, Festtage im Festspielhaus, from 15 to 22 August 2020. By arranging the events “we would like to send out a strong artistic signal this summer, following cancellation of the festival season,” Elisabeth Sobotka said.

The Festtage will open in the Festspielhaus on 15 August with Alles wieder gut by the ensemble Musicbanda Franui together with the celebrated baritone Florian Boesch. A concert by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under its chief conductor Philippe Jordan will bring it to a close on 22 August.

On top of that the Vorarlberg Symphony Orchestra with its conductor Enrique Mazzola are working on a concert programme. There will also be a corona-compliant version of Ľubica Čekovská’s Impresario Dotcom. The world premiere of the opera was planned for summer 2020 under the direction of Lisa Stöppler.

Performance dates and other information about the Festtage programme will be released by the Bregenz Festival from 22 June onwards. Tickets go on sale on 6 July.
