Events for Kids & Young Adults
The crossculture programme makes it possible for kids and young adults to immerse themselves in the thrilling world of music theatre. It's not just about listening – getting creative and taking part is a key element of this varied outreach programme.
Family opera
This year on the programme for our youngest guests is The Time Machine. It is an opera by Detlef Heusinger intended to help kids and young adults to get to know the composer Gioachino Rossini, who was celebrated like a popstar during the last century.
The Time Machine is a family opera in the true sense of the word: Felix and his sister Frida travel to Paris using a time machine to meet Gioachino Rossini. After all, their grandfather had always told them that everything was better in the old days. The famous composer, however, stays in his bed all day, eats all the time and has given up composing. Rossini’s servant Figaro and his wife and muse Isabella remind the two kids of their parents, just as – strangely enough – Rossini himself reminds them of their grandfather. As time goes by, Felix and Frida long to travel back to the present more and more.
